Responsibilities: Principal design, architectural design, rock engineering, structural design, and building information modelling (BIM)
- Spent nuclear fuel is packed into disposal canisters at the encapsulation plant. The canisters are then transported by a lift to the underground repository.
- Thorough preparation and implementation will ensure the safety of final disposal. The final disposal of spent nuclear fuel is projected to begin in the 2020s and to continue for nearly one hundred years. The construction licence was granted in November 2015.
